Brasil Telecom links data centers for Brazilian bank

Brasil Telecom SA (www.brasiltelecom.com.br) has begun providing networking services to the Brazilian Central Bank-the Brazilian equivalent of the U.S.'s Federal Reserve. Brasil Telecom will connect the bank's two data centers via optical fiber, allowing the bank's information to be stored in one data center in the event that the other center is damaged.

Dense wavelenth-division multiplexing technology developed by Adva Opticals is being used in the project.

Brasil Telecom, Brazil's third-largest telecommunications company, provides local, intraregional, long-distance, network, data-communications, and other services within Brazil.
