TIA President Matthew Flanigan has congratulated Assistant Michael Gallagher for his work as assistant secretary of commerce for Communications and Information and Administration of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Flanigan made his comments today in response to the announcement that Gallagher will depart his post.
"TIA wholeheartedly congratulates Assistant Secretary Gallagher for his almost two and a half years of outstanding service to the industry and the nation as assistant secretary," says Gallagher. "He has played such an extremely important role in so many issues of significance to TIA and the industry, including as an ambassador of President Bush's vision of access to affordable broadband for every American by 2007."
Flanigan says Gallagher worked tirelessly to ensure the nation's spectrum is put to efficient use in order to ensure commercial, government and public safety users can all deploy innovative, consumer enhancing, and life-saving technologies.
"Without a doubt he has kept his eye on the national and international economic and social implications of ubiquitous broadband connectivity in all its forms," Flanigan continues.
"TIA is extraordinarily appreciative of Assistant Secretary Gallagher's friendship and willingness to participate in important TIA activities, traveling the world to promote open, competitive communications markets that promote innovation and investment," Flanigan says.
The TIA is based in Arlington, VA. For more information visit www.tiaonline.org.
