TIA issues telecom cabling standard for commercial buildings

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has published a new standard, TIA-568-B.2-11, entitled "Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standard, Part 2: Balanced Twisted-Pair Cabling Components, Addendum 11 -- Specification of 4-Pair UTP and SCTP Cabling."

The document is an addendum to TIA-568-B.2.

The new standard specifies the requirements for the cable diameter of 4-pair balanced untwisted pair (UTP) and shielded copper twisted pair (ScTP) cables specified in TIA-568-B.2. The new standard applies to 4-pair balanced UTP and ScTP cables specified in TIA-568-B.2 and TIA-568- B.2-1.

According to a press release, TIA-568-B.2-11 was created by the TIA TR-42.7 Subcommittee on Telecommunications Copper Cabling Systems and released in December 2005. Copies of the document can be obtained here.
