RTKL appoints new VP

February 19, 2008 -- RTKL Associates Inc. has promoted Tony Whaley, RCDD/NTS/WD, CTS, CWP, to the position of vice president. Whaley is a senior telecommunications consultant with the Special Systems Design Group in RTKL's Baltimore office.

"Tony's expertise in IT master planning has helped propel our business with corporate offices and educational campuses," says David P. Labuskes, RTKL vice president and director of the Special Systems Design Group. "He has long been acknowledged as a thought leader in the information transport systems industry, and we are pleased to be able to recognize his contributions within our firm."

Whaley focuses his work in telecommunications on information technology, structured cabling systems, video distribution and wireless LAN design. His 25-year career includes two decades with the United States Army, where he handled high frequency, very high frequency, ultra high frequency and satellite radio design, installation and repair.

Whaley's project portfolio comprises telecommunications design for numerous public and private sector projects, including Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory, where he master planned outside cable plant infrastructure, inter-building connectivity and future technology planning, as well as the university's Bloomberg School of Public Health, which included a 1,200-square-foot, Tier II data center designed to be upgradeable to Tier III.
