Greenlee intros new cable tools

March 27, 2008 -- Greenlee, a Textron company, has introduced a pair of new tools: the KP1022 crimper and the 727M handheld cable cutting tool.

According to the company, the KP1022 crimper is designed with two die positions, making it capable of crimping both insulated and uninsulated terminals and splices from 10-22 AWG. The cutter has long curved handles and double cushioned grips to provide good leverage and comfort, and is easily carried in a tool pouch. The tool's smooth pivot action makes it easy to use with one hand. The precision-machined and hardened cutter blades at the nose of the tool enable easy cutting of copper and aluminum wire.

The 727M handheld cable cutter features extra-wide molded grips with a hard underside for strength and a soft, slip-resistant, ergonomic outside for increased comfort. The 727M's extra wide grips provide a larger load bearing area that makes it easier on the hands. While users can feel the difference that the softer, wider grips provide, Greenlee says its will still make the original 727 cable cutter available. Both tools easily cut copper and aluminum cables up to 2/0 AWG (70 mm2).

Both the 727M and the 727 cable cutting tools use the same forged steel blanks that are heat treated and precision ground to provide long life and easy cutting. The tool's hot riveted joint provides a smooth opening and closing action while the rust-resistant black oxide finish provides additional safeguards against rust, according to Greenlee.
