Raydiance selects Xirrus Wi-Fi platform

April 9, 2008 -- Xirrus, Inc. recently announced the deployment of its Wi-Fi Arrays at laser systems provider Raydiance, Inc., to cover that company's California offices. Raydiance says it selected the Xirrus Wi-Fi Array platform to replace wired Ethernet workgroup switches, while providing greater coverage, bandwidth, and overall performance than traditional wireless platforms.

"Being a world-class company means we need to stay ahead of our customers' expectations by delivering superior technology for new applications," comments Jeff Spangler, director of information technology at Raydiance. "The Xirrus Wi-Fi solution not only provides complete Wi-Fi coverage and connectivity, but does it flawlessly. We were able to deploy a powerful Wi-Fi network that will scale as we work to stay ahead of customer expectations."

Xirrus says its Wi-Fi Array surpasses traditional Wi-Fi offerings by integrating 4, 8, or 16 radios and high-gain directional antennas into a single device, along with an onboard Gigabit switch, Wi-Fi controller, firewall, dedicated Wi-Fi threat sensor, and embedded spectrum analyzer. The company says its Wi-Fi Arrays are ideal for organizations moving towards Wi-Fi as their primary network connection, especially those that must cover large areas, support large user populations, and/or use high bandwidth/throughput applications.

"Our Wi-Fi Array gave Raydiance the high performance Wi-Fi they need today and the flexibility as they grow," remarks Charles Bettinelli, regional sales manager at Xirrus. "Our platform is the only Wi-Fi device that utilizes the 802.11abg spectrum to its fullest potential today, and that is easily upgradable to 802.11n tomorrow."
