Telecom outlet box boasts self contained cable management

July 23, 2008 -- RANDL Industries has introduced its patented 5 Square telecommunications outlet box, which features a self contained cable management system. The 5 Square box with a depth of 2 7/8" and a volume up to 81 cubic inches (double that of most boxes) supports the minimum bend radius requirements of Categories 5E, 6, Augmented 6, and fiber optic cables.

The 5 Square box has an array of knockout arrangements with sizes from 3/4" to 1 1/4" and plaster rings from flat to 1 1/4" deep to fit all project needs. A model especially designed for fire signaling appliances virtually eliminates ground faults and short circuits, while allowing many additional conductors and cables to pass through; thereby, reducing conduit and associated labor, maintains the company.

The company says that its research indicates that multiple bend radius infractions are often found when high speed cables such as Cat 5E and Cat 6 are installed in old technology boxes. Modern data and video technologies, especially 10GBaseT cables, require strict adherence to the cable manufacturer's minimum bend radius requirements. Moreover, the company contends that it is not possible to install the more rigid 10GBaseT cables in existing boxes and still maintain minimum bend radii.
