August 1, 2008--Vicon Industries Inc. will make the ASIS International Show in Atlanta, Georgia, Sept. 15-17, the site of its formal launch of ViconNet version 5.0 open architecture digital video management software. With this introduction, ViconNet will now offer open platform flexibility, allowing for simplified integration with most major IP camera manufacturers, including Panasonic, Sony, Arecont Vision, ACTi, Axis, IQinvision and others. In addition, ViconNet 5.0 will support both Vicon and third-party megapixel cameras at resolutions ranging from 1.3 to 12 megapixels.
Full integration of video analytics within the ViconNet interface is also new to ViconNet 5.0, allowing system operators to simultaneously view live and recorded ViconNet surveillance video, as well as control and monitor video analytics functions.
ViconNet VI (video intelligence) software, which operates independently from ViconNet but appears seamlessly within the ViconNet 5.0 control window, may be programmed to detect certain behaviors or conditions, including motion, non-motion, object counting, PTZ auto tracking, crowd monitoring, tailgating and loitering.
Additional new features include an optional 16:9 ViconNet GUI that makes full use of screen space on widescreen monitors and maps for the Virtual Matrix Controller.
"Version 5 brings our award-winning digital video management software to a vast, new population of customers that previously could not consider our solution due to incompatibility issues with third-party IP devices," says Bret McGowan, vice preident of U.S. sales and marketing. "We also now have the right product to attract the attention of the IT community – a group that has typically shown a strong preference for open architecture systems."
